Enjoy While Doing Good

100% of donations made at this concert will go to Food Bank for Monterey County.

From Artistic Director Cindy

Music for Food and Food Bank for Monterey County are two very inspiring organizations to me that have had a deep and impactful commitment in helping the 1 in 9 people in United States that struggle with food insecurity.
As the new Artistic Director of Chamber Music Monterey Bay and many of the YLA young musicians’ violin teacher, I want my first initiative to be about empowerment through community-based concerts for our youth. The hands-on experience demonstrates how music can be influential beyond culture and enrichment. It can respond to and address social problems. The experience will not only empower them, it also plants the encouragement for them to one day step into initiating their own programs in the future, whether it's for charity, community building, music, or career. I believe it is an absolute essential life skill in the paradigm of the world today.

Music for Food is a musician-led initiative to fight hunger in local communities. As music and food are both essential to human life and growth, music especially has the power to call forth the best in us, inspiring awareness and action when artists and audiences work together to transform the ineffable into the tangible. Since its founding in 2009. Music for Food has generated funds to support food pantries around the world to create almost 2 million meals through more than 350 artistic partners joining this mission, including Harvard University's resident concert series, Boston Philharmonic, Juilliard Quartet, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Food Bank for Monterey County is the largest, most comprehensive provider of emergency supplemental food in our community. It is the primary food resource in Monterey County, operating various weekly direct-distribution sites and stocking the emergency pantries and meal programs of over 130 local nonprofits. We serve 1 in 3 children and 1 in 4 county residents. Our programs are designed to address the unique nutritional concerns faced by our varied client demographics, which include growing children, seniors, veterans, and homeless persons. More about Food Bank for Monterey County.

Santa Catalina School exists to develop in each student a striving for excellence, a maturing awareness of moral and spiritual values, a sense of responsible purpose, and a determination to serve the world with courage, grace, and compassion.
Chamber Music Monterey is grateful for Santa Catalina School's partnership in hosting our benefit concert at their beautiful Johnson Recital Hall.
