“…absolutely top-notch music-making, as fine as one could ever expect to hear…”

-The Washington Post

The fifth and final concert in Chamber Music Monterey Bay’s 52nd season features the Montrose Trio (Martin Beaver, violin; Clive Greensmith, cello, and Jon Kimura Parker, piano). They will perform a program featuring: Piano Trio in E-flat major by Joseph Haydn; Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, for violin, cello and piano, Op. 67 by Dmitri Shostakovich; and Piano Trio No.1, Op. 32 by Anton Arensky.

Some may have never heard of the Montrose – while the name is relatively unknown, the artists are anything but! This “Trio of Titans” was formed from a long and fruitful collaboration between celebrated pianist Jon Kimura Parker and two members of the now-disbanded Tokyo String Quartet.

Joining Kimura Parker, violinist Martin Beaver and cellist Clive Greensmith created the Montrose Trio in 2013. Named after Chateau Montrose, a storied Bordeaux wine long favored after concerts, with a nod to the Montrose Arts District of Houston and the street in Winnipeg where Mr. Beaver was raised, the Montrose Trio has quickly established a reputation for performances of the highest distinction.

The media accolades are over the top, saying this is as fine a piano trio as you are ever likely to hear: seasoned artists, musical masters – they have it all!

Please contact Sarah Gordon ( or (212) 584-7529 (Eastern Time Zone) for additional quotes or interview opportunities with the artists.

Prior to the performance, Chamber Music Monterey Bay will celebrate Carmel High School students, teachers and staff for receiving the 2019 Exemplary Arts Education Program Award from the California State Superintendent of Schools. CHS is one of only ten schools in the state to receive this prestigious award. CMMB is a proud partner of the CHS music department coordinating interactive sessions with visiting artists like the Ensō String Quartet in 2018 and providing free admission to CHS students at each of our concerts through our Kids Up Front and Free! program.

Learn more about the music on the program by attending Chamber Music Monterey Bay’s popular pre-concert lecture with musicologist Kai Christiansen at 6:45 p.m.
